NPP's Director in charge of International Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso (2nd Right) and some party executives in the Northern Region

The Director in charge of International Affairs of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso believes the northern region will be a fertile ground for the party to win in the December 7, 2020 general election.

He noted that the dynamics have changed in the local politics in the region after he visited some voter registration centres in the Mion, Bimbila and several other constituencies in the past few days.

Mr. Attafuah-Danso said he was confident that the NPP in the northern region was on the right trajectory and was optimistic that the region will be added to the Ashanti and Eastern regions as the heartbeat of the party after the polls.

Both the NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NPP) shared nine seats apiece out of 18 constituencies in the northern region before the creation of the Savannah and North East regions.

The nine constituencies where the NPP has sitting Members of Parliament are the Kpandai, Wulensi, Yendi, Tolon, Nanton, Bimbila, Saboba, Gushegu and Savelugu constituencies.

However, the Regional Chairman of the NPP, Baantima Mohammed Samba in 2018 declared “Operation win 15 seats” in the northern region.

The NPP has consistently increased popular votes for their presidential candidates and added parliamentary seats.

Speaking in an interview with THE CUSTODIAN in Tamale, the NPP Director of International Affairs posited that the current crop of executives will once again deliver victory with dispatch and distinction to the party.

He added that the party will garner more popular votes to give President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Akufo another landslide victory on December 7 and win more seats in addition to the current nine Members of Parliament.

Meanwhile, Mr. Attafuah-Danso has commended the youth and people of the region for participating massively in the registration process.

He observed that the good leadership the party and government are providing the youth is manifesting in the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

“I am hopeful that we are going to win and the party will deliver a sound verdict given to us by the voting population because the party in the region is offering a resolute leadership” he indicated.

On his part, the Deputy Youth Organizer of the NPP, Joseph Kawaja said the excitement and enthusiasm exhibited by the youth across the country is because of their understanding and appreciation of the numerous policies of the NPP government.

He added that many of the policies the NPP-led administration has implemented are affecting the youth of the nation, noting that everybody wants to register to vote for President Nana Akufo-Addo to continue what he described as people-centred policies and programmes.
