The Saboba District Fire Service Post in the Northern Region has now been upgraded to a fully-fledged Fire Station and ready for firefighting. The post was established a year ago on May 5, 2023, but had no fire tender to offer emergency services to the community and was only relying on the Yendi municipality for fire cover.

However, the traveling distance has always made it practically impossible during emergency cases hence the need for a Fire Station in the district. The aim for the time then was to provide fire safety education to the residents as frantic efforts were being made to get them a fire tender.

Consequently, the Northern Regional Fire Officer, ACFOI James Nkrah on behalf of the Chief Fire Officer has presented a fire tender to the District Fire post making it fully operational Fire Service Station.

During a short handing over ceremony, ACFOI James Nkrah admonished the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Seidu Abdul Aziz, to ensure the fire tender is put into proper as well as proper maintenance of the vehicle.

He also implored the traditional leaders in the area and other relevant stakeholders in the district to support the station to live up to its expectations.

Mr. Nkrah further charged the personnel to continue with the public education on preventive mechanisms and not relax on their duties because they now have a fire tender.

“…What I would also like to add is that a fire tender doesn’t prevent fires from happening; it is rather the last resort, and what you should not forget is that you should constantly educate the public” he stressed.

The Coordinating Director while receiving the fire tender on behalf of the Saboba District Chief Executive and the assembly expressed relief now that the district has fully operational fire station to provide effective fire cover to the District.

The District Fire Officer, ADOI Yusuf, on behalf of his men, pledged to take good care of the appliance. He noted that the presence of the appliance will further help them to adequately and effectively discharge their duties, thereby protecting lives and properties.
