The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, is celebrating his 51 birth anniversary today.

The former Minister for Information and later Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development in the first term of the Akufo-Addo government was born on 14th June, 1971, in Tamale in the northern region.

Dr Abdul-Hamid attended the then Station Experimental School at the Kamina Barracks from 1976 to 1982 before he gained admission into the Bawku Secondary School where he sat for the Ordinary Level Examination in 1987.

The young Abdul-Hamid then proceeded to the Tamale Secondary School for his Sixth Form education before writing the Advance Level Examination in 1989 and then entered the University of Cape Coast in 1991 where he was offered admission to study Classics, English and Religion. He majored in Religious Studies.

He was admitted to the Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1996 with Second Class Honours, Upper Division. He also obtained a Diploma in Education which he undertook concurrently with the Degree.

The NPA Chief Executive later obtained an M-Phil in Religious Studies also from the University of Cape Coast. In 2018, he completed his Ph.D in the same university.

The 51-year old went into full time politics in 2003 having been a longstanding member of the governing New Patriotic Party, moving to become the National Youth Organizer of the party.

The NPP stalwart was also the political aide to the then candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo until 2017.
