The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has closed the period for the purchase and collection of nomination forms for its 2026 National Officers Elections, with a total of 50 forms taken across nine positions.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, 22 August 2026, the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) said the nomination exercise proceeded successfully and peacefully. Filing of completed forms begins on Sunday, 23 August, and ends on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
The National Chairperson race attracted five aspirants: Paul Afoko, John Boadu, Boakye Agyarko, Sammy Crabbe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako. The Vice Chairperson position recorded the highest interest with 13 forms, while the National Organiser slot drew eight. Other positions saw between two and six forms purchased.
The Committee stressed that collecting a form does not amount to a valid nomination. Aspirants become nominees only after properly filing completed forms and required documents within the filing window, followed by vetting under the Party’s Constitution and election regulations.
Vetting is scheduled from Monday, 31 August to Thursday, 3 September 2026, with positions grouped across the four days. Specific times for individual nominees will be communicated later.
In the absence of a fixed balloting date, NOEC explained that the delay is deliberate. The Committee wants filing, vetting and any appeals to conclude first so the final list of candidates is settled before balloting is scheduled.
Prematurely setting a date risks postponement if appeals remain unresolved. Adequate notice will be given once a firm date is fixed, and the process will be conducted transparently and fairly.
NOEC Chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah thanked aspirants, party officials, the media, security personnel and Secretariat staff for their cooperation. He called on all involved to promote unity, mutual respect and confidence in the Party’s internal democratic processes as the exercise moves to the next stages.
