Some NPP national executives at the Kejetia market

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated GH¢100, 000 to support traders whose shops were destroyed by fire at the Kejetia Market in the Ashanti Region.

Led by the party’s general secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the delegation was at the market to inspect the fire scene and also interact with the affected victims.

“We want to express our deepest sympathy to our market women and men whose shops were gutted by fire not long ago. We share with them the agony that they are going through at this material moment.

“Knowing the situation that they find themselves in, the party has made a pledge of GH¢100,000 to support the market women and men whose shops got burnt, at least to support them in the interim, while we know that the government will also have a package for them,” he added.

Meanwhile, the market opened to full business on yesterday after Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia intervened during a visit to the place on Monday.

The facility managers had planned a one-week shutdown to allow for thorough repair works but the decision has been reversed.
