The Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has prayed for the country to remain peaceful as we entered 2022. He said though the people are from different ethnicities and different religious denominations, “We are all children of God”.

In a New Year message on his official Facebook page, January 1, 2022, Dr Bawumia maintained what makes Ghana unique is our unity in diversity and that, we should continue to focus on that.

“I thank God for seeing us through 2021. I also pray for those who we, unfortunately, lost during the year. As we entered the New Year, I pray that Ghana continues to be peaceful.”

Notwithstanding the global economic impact of Covid-19, the Vice President was optimistic about the country’s future, stating 2020 should see us continue on the path of economic transformation that we are embarking on.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Second Lady, Samira Bawumia joined the Breman Ebenezer Methodist Church, St. Peter’s Cathedral and Ayigya Pentecost Church all at Kumasi in the Ashanti for the 31st night service to worship with the congregants.

The solidarity deepens national cohesion between the two major religious groupings in the country and being a public figure; the Vice President has received commendations from the general public.

This was after he had joined the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, His Royal Highness, Mohammed Sanusi Lamido, the 14th Emir of Kano and hundreds of Muslim congregants in Kumasi for prayers and a special national Qur’an recitation for a sustainable peace in Ghana.

In his address, Dr Bawumia emphasized the importance of peace in our communities and the nation as a whole and further urged all and sundry to continue to cherish the peace God has bestowed on us by continuously being tolerant of each other regardless of ethnic, religious and political differences.
