The Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu in the Northern Region, Alhassan Fuseini, has been commended highly by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development for his hard work, diligence and exemplary leadership qualities in the discharge of his duties.
Appearing before the committee last Thursday, (October 9, 2025), the Chief Executive unlike many of his colleagues demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the challenges undermining growth and development in his municipality and showcased his exceptional leadership capabilities in addressing the issues.
Mr. Fuseini highlighted the municipality’s pressing challenges, including the deplorable state of road networks and the Savelugu market, which require urgent attention.
He further outlined some measures in collaboration with key stakeholders, particularly the Paramount Chief of Savelugu, Yoo Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz to improve the livelihood of the people.
The MCE maintained his partnership with the traditional leader has played an instrumental role in advancing the course of development and maintaining social cohesion in the municipality.
The Committee did, however, acknowledged the developmental gaps and expressed particular interest in addressing the inner city road network and the market infrastructure in order to boost socioeconomic activities in the municipality.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon Sawyerr Maame Pokuah Queenstar was particularly impressed by the delivery of Mr. Fuseini gave their unwavering support and full assurance to support the MCE and the Assembly in tackling these pressing issues, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the development and progress of the municipality.
The Committee members were also full of praises for the MCE for his diligent responses and practical knowledge of the challenges and opportunities more especially in Agriculture and measures to clampdown on Climate Change within Savelugu, describing his presentation as a reflection of effective and inclusive leadership.
Meanwhile, the MCE did not impressed only the Parliamentary Select Committee but hundreds of people in Savelugu and the entire Northern Region cutting across the political divide.
Members of the governing National Democratic Congress and the opposition New Patriotic Party have all hailed him for such exceptional leadership style.
