The Ashaiman District Police Command has intensified its crime-fighting efforts ahead of the Christmas festivities, demolishing structures suspected of serving as hideouts for criminals at Fitter-Line.
The operation took place at about 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, under the leadership of District Commander DSP Orlando Joseph Adzokpa. A total of 30 police personnel took part in the exercise.
According to the police, the raid was intended to disrupt criminal activities and address security concerns involving suspects accused of terrorising residents in Ashaiman and neighbouring communities.
However, the suspects reportedly fled upon spotting the approaching police team, preventing officers from making any arrests. The personnel subsequently demolished the structures identified as suspected criminal hideouts.
The operation ended at about 8:40 a.m. without any reported incident.
The command said the exercise formed part of sustained efforts to combat crime and strengthen security across the municipality ahead of the festive season.
It added that the measures were aimed at ensuring residents could go about their daily activities and conduct legitimate businesses without fear, intimidation or disruption before, during and after Christmas.
