The immediate past New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman for Afigya Kwabre South Constituency popularly referred to as Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA) has urged the party delegates to reject presidential hopefuls who are openly attacking President Nana Akufo-Addo and his policies.

He argued that the presidential candidate of the NPP for the 2024 general election and the party will be campaigning based on the record of the Akufo-Addo government and therefore any person who is criticising the policies of government must not be allowed to lead the party for the presidential and parliamentary elections.

“Dear NPP delegates, any presidential candidate aspirant or his agent whose body language, behavior, character and utterances in public against the President and his policies cannot lead the party to victory in 2024. Let the NPP remember that whoever is elected to lead the party in 2024 election will have to work with president Akufo-Addo to explain to the electorates why NPP should be given another 4 years to govern. Let us be careful because when you bring the president and his government down, it is the NPP that suffers”, he explained further.

Chairman Odeneho Appiah who shared the above views on his social media platform (Facebook) on Monday said he is puzzled with some open and subtle attack on the legacy of president Akufo-Addo by some NPP members, especially those seeking to become the flagbearer for 2024 elections.

“When I listen to the way some NPP members are talking these days, especially some Presidential aspirants, I feel sorry for NPP. Tell me who among the aspirants can stand on his own legacy to lead NPP to retain power in 2024. No one, not even the Vice President. It will surprise you that when you leave some of them to be on their own, they will have nothing to show or tell Ghanaians for vote.

“One thing that all well-meaning NPP members and the delegates should know is that the party is going to campaign to win the next elections with President Akufo-Addo’s policies and programmes implemented in the last 6 years in government. For this reason, NPP must protect jealously the Presidents legacies.”

He enumerated some of the programmes and policies of President Akufo-Addo administration that must be protected in the interest of the NPP.

“Which of the aspirants when selected as NPP candidate for 2024 can go round the country to campaign for votes without talking about one district, one factory policy, Free Senior High School policy, one village, one dam, one district, one warehouse, one Ambulance one constituency, planting for food and jobs policy, digitalization, among others”, COKA who is also the immediate past head of association of Ashanti region branch of NPP constituency chairmen quizzed rhetorically.

He noted that as in all human organizations, the NPP has its share of internal conflicts, adding that “let us try to discuss party issues and troubles behind closed doors”.
