The incumbent Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Alhassan Bashir Alhassan (A.B.A) Fuseini has lost in the primaries of the National Democratic Congress. The outspoken MP lost massively to a new entrant, Atta Issah.

Alhaji Fuseini obtained three hundred and thirty-three (333) votes against his main contender who had eight hundred and one votes (801).

The other candidates; Abdul Majeed Alhassan had 42, Hamza Bukari Zakaria, 27, and Yakubu Ahmed, 120 votes.

Mr. Fuseini was seeking the mandate of the party’s electorates to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections for his fourth term in Parliament.

He joined Parliament in 2012 when the Sagnarigu constituency was curved out of the Tamale North constituency during the erstwhile Mills led National Democratic Congress government.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mohammed Abdul Salam, in a media interview refuted allegations of voting buying during the elections.

“I have been here when voting was going on. I haven’t heard any such complaints” he emphasized.

In a related development, former President John Mahama, in the presidential race has obtained one thousand, three hundred and eight (1,308) votes.

Kojo Bonsu had zero votes with twenty two (22) rejected ballots.
