The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate hopeful for Sagnarigu, Madam Felicia Tetteh, has distributed about two thousand (2000) copies of mathematical sets to candidates sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) in the Sagnarigu municipality.
The Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Yakubu, who made the presentation of the items to the beneficiary candidates extended the best wishes of the NPP Parliamentary Aspirant.
“Hon Felicia Tetteh sends her heartfelt wishes and support to all candidates who will be sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination. The BECE marks a crucial milestone in your academic journey. I know how much effort you have made in preparing for this examination”.
“Remember that this examination is not just a test for your academic knowledge but also to showcase your skills and problem-solving abilities” the Chief Executive added.
Meanwhile, a total number of 5,483 candidates consisting 2,643 male and 2,840 female students from both public and private schools in 21 centres are participating in the examination in the Sagnarigu municipality in the Northern Region.
The Aspirant in a separate interaction with THE CUSTODIAN Online said education is key among her agenda and priorities to transform the Sagnarigu constituency when she is elected Member of Parliament in 2024.
She believes education is the bedrock to the socioeconomic growth and development of every community, a vision she proudly added the NPP through the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration recognized and introduced the free Senior High School policy since assuming office in 2017.
She recounted the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufuor led NPP government also implemented the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) program which encourage enrolment and significantly improved students’ performance at the basic school level.
Mrs. Tetteh therefore indicated her solve and commitment to support the children of Sagnarigu to acquire quality education across the basic, second cycle and tertiary levels and become worthy ambassadors of change for the area.
Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Director of Ghana Education Service (GES), Madam Katumi Natogmah Attah, in a circular sighted by THE CUSTODIAN Online addressed to all District Directors prior to the start of the exams said, “As leaders in the education sector, let us work together to uphold the standards of the BECE and guarantee that all candidates are given a fair chance to demonstrate their knowledge and capabilities.”
She further directed that the necessary arrangements should be made for candidates with special needs or disabilities, ensuring they are provided with the necessary support and accommodations during the examination.
“Your efforts in ensuring a seamless examination process will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of education within our region” she said.
In all, about 31,534 candidates in the Northern Region are participating in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) in one hundred and seventeen (117) centres.
