The 2020 Sagnarigu Parliamentary Candidate of NPP, Madam Felicia Tetteh

Madam Felicia Tettey, the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party who gave the National Democratic Congress a major blow in the 2020 general elections says she remains constantly in touch with the constituents of Sagnarigu.

The Iron Lady as she is affectionately called by her love ones caused a stir to the NDC incumbent Member of Parliament in the 2020 parliamentary polls.

Prior to the general of the New Patriotic Party had never won a single ballot box since the creation of the constituency in 2012 from the Tamale North Constituency.

Little did anyone believe the young dynamic female politician could poll the strings to get 26,434 representing 43.0% against the NDC Alhassan Bashir Fuseini polling 34,989 representing 57.0%.

The former Northern Regional Second Vice Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party also captured 44 ballot boxes in a typical powerhouse for the opposition party.

The outcome of the 2020 elections has actually cast doubt about the potency and leadership qualities of the NDC legislator who would be ending his third term as representative of the people in 2024.

Many NPP stalwarts have argued for Madam Felicia Tettey to be maintained as the party’s candidate going into the 2024 general to leverage on her 2020 performance.

Speaking via a phone interview on Boxing Day, December 26, the Iron Lady told THE CUSTODIAN she is still constant touch with the people of Sagnarigu.

“I have never left my people though I didn’t win. Be it the passing out tailors, seamstresses, hairdressers – I am always there to support them. And you can do your own checks, I have empowered people with motorbikes, tricycles and uncountable items” she stated.

She disclosed some of the promises she made to the people during the 2020 campaign period are being addressed one after the other.

“So I am very much in touch with the people because even their social functions if I am not around, I get people to attend it and do the needful, so I am on the grounds with my people” she reiterated.

The former NPP MP hopeful said, “What I am doing in the constituency, A.B.A Fuseini has done nothing of it; never have we gone to any social event or any of the pass out or something that involves the development of the people that we have met him.”
