The Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council has announced the imposition of 5:00pm to 7:00am curfew on Damankungyili, Nyeshie and it’s adjoining communities effective Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
This follows a violent clash between the two farming communities, claiming one life and several others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Abdulai Imoro Gong who is Chairman of the Security Council in a statement unreservedly condemned the incident.
”The Council condemns in the strongest terms the acts of violence that have led to loss of life and injury to residents.
”We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured” he said.
In consultation with the Northern Regional Security Council, Mr. Gong announced total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the affected areas in line with measures to restore calm, protect lives and property, and prevent further escalation.
There is also an increased joint Police patrols to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order.
Mr. Gong further called on the media to be circumspect in their reportage to avoid inflammatory commentaries that may worsen the situation.
Meanwhile, the Council has also appealed to the Chiefs, elders, youth, and residents of the two communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with the security agencies.
”We urge all persons with credible information on the disturbances to volunteer same to the Police.
”Let us remember that we are one people. Violence only destroys the progress we have made together as a Municipality” he stated.
According to the MCE, authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
