Four people, including a pregnant woman and her daughter, have died in a devastating road crash involving a Sinotruk HOWO tipper truck at Kinkinlin, near Makango in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
The accident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, when a group of women and girls were reportedly heading to their farms to harvest shea nuts.
Eyewitnesses say the tipper truck, with registration number GB-2359-20, suddenly veered off its lane, crossed into the opposite side of the road, and struck the victims from behind before overturning.
Five people were hit in the incident. Four were pronounced dead at the scene, while one survivor, who sustained severe injuries, was first taken to the Salaga Government Hospital and later referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased are reported to include two mothers and their daughters, among them a pregnant woman, plunging the Kinkinlin community into deep mourning.
