Stanbic Bank Ghana has marked the successful completion of a two-year graduate trainee programme with a ceremony in honor of 10 outstanding trainees.

The programme, which focused on young graduates with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) backgrounds, is to prepare these young professionals to navigate the demands of an increasingly digital world while fostering their personal and professional growth.

Addressing the graduates at the event, Akorfa Takal, Head of Learning at Stanbic Bank Ghana, emphasized the importance of perseverance and continuous learning. She noted that “This program was a bold step forward, given that the connection between science and banking might not be immediately apparent, that’s where the potential for innovation lies”. She further urged the trainees to stay courageous, adaptable, and true to themselves as they explore new opportunities.

Tina Sackeyfio, Senior Business Partner, People and Culture at the Bank, while highlighting the broader impact of the training programme, reminded the trainees of their pivotal role in the Bank’s future. “You are not just employees; you are the future of Stanbic Bank Ghana. As ambassadors of change and progress, you have already proven your worth. Your meaningful contributions will leave a lasting impact This is the time to leverage your knowledge acquired, embrace challenges, and contribute to the successes we all cherish.” she said.

Reflecting on his growth, Reginald Nyarko expressed gratitude for the journey. He indicated that the programme has given him the tools to face the world confidently. “The leadership’s support has been incredible, and I am excited about the future we’re stepping into. Together, we will achieve greatness,” he said.

Another member of the cohort, Sandra Nyampong, shared her pride in the personal development the programme facilitated. “The person I am today is a testament of this programme. I’ve gained hands-on experience, explored new opportunities, and built confidence that will empower me to make an impact. To everyone who supported us, your encouragement has been invaluable,” she noted.

The two-year programme has been effective in nurturing digital talent. A notable achievement of the initiative is the success of Stanbic Ghana’s outstanding performance at the Standard Bank Group Hackathon event in September 2024, where trainees from Ghana secured the top prize. Seven of twelve members on the winning team were trainees on the graduate trainee programme, a testament to the programme’ s ability to cultivate innovative thinkers.
