The late A.U Farouk

A staunch serial caller and social media commentator of the opposition National Democratic Congress, famously known as A.U Farouk Tamale has been buried in the northern regional capital after he met his untimely death.

The popular communicator reportedly died at the Legon government hospital in the Greater Accra Region Friday evening after short illness.

THE CUSTODIAN Online has gathered the deceased traveled to Accra on Thursday, December 15, to participate in Saturday’s National Delegates Conference of the NDC.

THE CUSTODIAN Online has further learnt the over 40-year old collapsed Friday morning at the University of Ghana where he was lodging with other party members ahead of the 10th National Delegates Conference of the NDC today.

He was therefore rushed to the Legon government hospital for medical care but was pronounced dead later in the evening. The mortal remains of the late Farouk arrived in Tamale Saturday morning for burial in accordance with the Islamic religion.

He has since been buried at the Zujung public cemetery.

Meanwhile, tributes have started pouring on social media across the political divide at both regional and national levels in memory of the deceased.

NPP Statement:

The NPP Northern Regional Communications Directorate has expressed shock at the sadden demise of the NDC communicator and prayed for his soul to receive eternal peace.

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un (We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return).

We received with shock the passing of our beloved brother A.U FARUK , a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress. This sad event happens in Accra but the body has since been brought back to Tamale for burial service. 

We sympathise with the family for this an replaceable lost.

May Almighty Allah dwell him in Jannataul-Firdaus, the most beautiful paradise.

May the soul of our beloved brother rest in perfect peace.
