The Zongo Chief of Tamale and Leader of the Shia Muslim Community in the northern region, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Dalhu has admonished the youth and people of the region to take their personal hygiene and safety serious as Ghana records two cases of the deadly coronavirus. The Chief urged the people particularly the youth to abstain from unnecessary body contacts and frequent handshakes in the wake of the global pandemic.

Sheikh Abdul Mumin Dalhu said the spread of the virus is very scary, therefore, urging the public to take precautionary measures about how they conduct themselves both in public gathering and at home. He said people must eat healthy fruits to boost their immune system in order for the body to fight any infectious disease that may attack them.

The Islamic Scholar added that the consistent intake of water is good for the body and helps the system against dehydration. Alhaji Abdul Mumin Dalhu made these remarks when Minister for Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal together with a former Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Prince Imoro Andani paid a courtesy call on him on Friday, 13 March, 2020.

He further encouraged the public to observe a frequent hand wash with soap as advised by health experts. He said people must begin to understand and respect others when they decline their handshakes.

“This is temporary; we must respect the order of the day. In our part of the globe, we should intensify our prayers for the mercy of Almighty Allah to be upon us. The spread of the coronavirus is very scary and prevention is always better than cure, let’s be wary of the disease” he said.

“As you can see, I have provided water, soap and tissue for people who visit to wash their hands, let’s encourage one another because we can abstain from any infection if we maintain personal hygiene” he stressed.
