Fire has ravaged through the family home of the late Ibrahim Mohammed Mutala, former Tamale Central Member of Parliament and Minister for Environment, Science and Technology in the Tamale metropolis.
The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon (August 5, 2026) destroying about nine rooms in the building.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were swiftly dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress phone call at about 3:29p.m.
The Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of GNFS, ADO I Hudu Baba in an interview told Journalists that the firefighters arrived at the scene 8 minutes later at 3:37 p.m.
Mr. Baba disclosed that two children were by the firefighters upon their arrival at the scene before bringing the fire under control.
The GNFS have immediately launched investigations to establish the cause of the inferno and the level of the damage caused in the coming period.
Meanwhile, tomorrow Thursday, August 6, marks exactly one year after the tragic death of the late National Democratic Congress lawmaker.
He died in the helicopter crash together with seven others including the Minister for Defense, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah.
