UK-based Ghanaian international singer and performer, Stephanie Benson is warning women to stop going in for Brazilian Butt Lift popularly known as BBL since it’s highly fatal.
As a guest on TV3’s The Ladies Circle recently, the outspoken singer noted that the rate of survival for BBL surgeries is with about 70% chance of not surviving.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeon, BBL is an augmentation of the buttock region using a patient’s own fat tissue.
The two-step procedure starts with liposuction of a different area, often the abdomen, the flanks, the thighs or back. The fat removed from these areas is then injected into the hips and buttocks to improve shape and projection.
The conversation which seemed to have ignited relevant conversation on the health complications of BBL vis-à-vis liposuction among the regular hosts- Anita Akua Akuffo, Helen Appiah-Ampofo and Sika Osei had Stephanie reveal how top surgeons in UK and America were opting out of such procedures.
“For me, when it comes to taking care of my body, it’s something I don’t compromise on at all. The chances of you dying on liposuction are a lot less than going to do a BBL.
“With a BBL, there’s at least a 70% chance rgar you might pass away and its rising. I feel as though people think its scaremongering but it’s not but the truth. Even top surgeons in the UK and America don’t like doing it.
“This is because if any of the fat goes into any part of your body, you are dead,” she said.
The One More singer also disclosed that she recently lost a good friend who died from complications of BBL, leaving behind her children.
A situation she described as unfortunate considering that many women are ignoring the high risk of BBL because they have been made to believe it was just scare mongering.
“Health first, I’m not saying don’t go and do liposuction. I understand that after giving birth, there are some stubborn fats that you can’t just get rid of and some people want to do liposuction. If you deserve it, why not?
“But I say that get your lifestyle in gear first before you consider doing any kind of plastic surgery,” she stated.
