The St Monica Primary and Junior High School blocks in the Tolon district of the northern region have been destroyed by rainstorm.

The incident happened last Friday when there was heavy storm in some parts of the northern region.

This has stalled teaching and learning and the pupils upon reporting for classes Monday morning (23rd May, 2022) got stranded.

Consequent to that, the teenagers were seen in groups in the open having friendly conversations and playing on the grass whilst others were also seen having fun on stems of trees in the school environment.

The Head teacher of the school, Dumba Simon when contacted by THE CUSTODIAN declared commenting and rather requested that, the District Chief Executive for Tolon would be the best person for a media interview on the matter.

Meanwhile, THE CUSTODIAN has gathered parts of the Junior High School block got destroyed about a year ago was yet to be fixed by the authorities before the recent destruction.

THE CUSTODIAN has further learnt that the Junior High School block is one of the examination centers for students writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the district.

Some of the pupils in video obtained by THE CUSTODIAN Northern Regional Correspondent, Mohammed Gadafi, appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to come to their aid and fix the school for them to resume effective teaching and learning activities.

“We are begging our DCE, our MP and our President to come and help us because our school roof has been destroyed and we cannot learn. We cannot write our exams if it is not fixed.”
