Lawyer Sule Sambian speaking to journalists after Saturday's parliamentary primaries

The North East Regional Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Sule Sambian has given assurance that the party will work assiduously to deliver all six seats and more popular votes for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This, he indicated, will demonstrate the appreciation of the people to the President for the creation of the North East region.

According to Mr. Sambian, the trend of voting by delegates of the party in Saturday’s primaries to elect their parliamentary candidates in the Bunkprugu, Nalerigu/Gambaga and Walewale constituencies were unanimous in who they want to lead them into the December 7, 2020 general election.

“For us as regional executives of the party, we will put in the right strategies to ensure that we win all these constituencies.”

In an interview with THE CUSTODIAN, Lawyer Sambian reiterated that the NPP in the North East region will not relent in its efforts to give a resounding victory to President Akufo-Addo on December 7 since it is the parent region of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Reconciliation

The NPP Chief Scribe posited that the general atmosphere of the elections in the three constituencies did not show acrimony within the ranks of the candidates.

He said as a result of this, it will not be difficult to unite the winning candidates and the vanquished in the parliamentary primaries ahead of the general election.

Lawyer Sambian disclosed that a committee will be set up in the comings days for a roundtable discussion to unite all parties and ensure they form an integral part of the campaign for the parliamentary candidates and the party.

“I will suggest to the Regional Executive Committee for us to co-opt all these persons (defeated candidates) to the regional campaign so that together we can speak with one voice towards the December 7 general election” Mr. Sambian stated.

 Sambian challenges NDC

The young astute lawyer said the outcome of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections will be based on the track records of the NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in government

He has therefore challenged the opposition party to show what they did in the region during their tenure.

Lawyer Sambian indicated that the NPP government has so far executed 19 infrastructure projects in the area compared to some 7 projects, he noted, the NDC was able to carry out between 2012 and 2016, emphasizing the NPP record is better than the NDC.
