The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, has enskined the Founder of Dantalga Foundation, a nongovernmental organization, Hajia Salamatu Mahama, as the Chief of Gmaiguhi in the Zabzugu district of the northern region.

The Dantalga Foundation (DF) is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization, engaged in a broad range of rural and urban development interventions in community health, women empowerment, capacity building, agriculture, and education throughout Northern Ghana.

The selection and subsequent enskinment of Hajia Salamatu is seen by many as a prestigious recognition and a testament to her dedication to community service and empowerment initiatives focusing on women and children development in the north.

Addressing the media after her coronation, the Gmaiguhi Naa pledged to continue her efforts in advocating for women and children empowerment particularly in the Dagbon traditional kingdom and the northern region as a whole.

She further expressed her commitment to addressing social issues undermining growth and development of underserved communities and supporting the most vulnerable and underprivileged in society.

Hajia Salamatu seized the opportunity to admonish the teeming youth in the area and the nation in general to avoid the use of illicit drugs among other social vices and engaged in very productive enterprises that will propel them as future leaders.

She emphasized the importance of making positive choices and contributing to their respective communities in very meaningful ways.

Reiterating a call made by the Yaa Naa, the Gmaiguhi Naa called on the general public to refrain from the use of sophisticated weapons during funerals and festive occasions, underscoring the need for safety and cohesion within the community.

The enskinment ceremony saw the presence of various dignitaries and community members who echoed the importance of maintaining peace to facilitate development projects in the region.
