The former President and 2020 flagbearer of NDC, H.E John Dramani Mahama

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the northern region has called on the 2020 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Mr. John Dramani Mahama to show leadership and bring to order members of the NDC who vandalized the party’s regional secretariat and fired gunshots in the Tamale metropolis Friday morning.

The NPP Director of Communications, Sule Salifu in a statement condemned the turmoil in the NDC, which has resulted in the vandalism of party properties at their Regional Secretariat.

He said the government under President Nana Akufo Addo laboured so much to restore permanent peace in the region, stating the NPP will not sit unconcerned for NDC hoodlums to derail the  success achieved by the Regional Security Council and government in the area.

According to Mr. Sule, businesses are flourishing in the region because government has provided a peaceful and convenient atmosphere for people to enjoy through its numerous pro-poor social and people-centered policy interventions implemented in the region and the country at large.

He emphasized that, the government cannot continue to waste state resources to maintain law and order at the expense of other development priorities in the region.

Mr. Sule Salifu who doubles as the Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the northern region labeled the leadership of the NDC as incompetent and further described as irresponsible the riots of the party youth in the metropolis.

“The least the NDC can do is to support government in this global pandemic crisis and not engage in broad day thievery which has now culminated into violent confrontations among them.”

“Ghana’s common enemy now is the coronavirus disease and as the President mentioned during one of his national broadcast, we must collectively fight the virus and not fight among ourselves” the YEA Boss added.

Meanwhile, the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Tamale has declared the leader of Aluta Boys in Tamale wanted.

According to the CID Boss, Superintendent Kwabena Otuo Acheampong, the suspect identified as Jalil led a ten-member group to besiege the NDC office amidst firing indiscriminately.

He disclosed other party properties were destroyed with stones when police officers arrived at the scene.
