The Minister for Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has registered for the voter ID card at the Old Court polling station in the Kumbungu constituency of the northern region. The minister arrived in Tamale Monday on a working visit to monitor the ongoing Electoral Commission voter registration exercise in the northern region.
Dr Ibrahim Awal began his monitoring exercise at Kumbungu where he obtained his voter ID card to vote in the December 7 general elections. He used the opportunity to pay courtesy calls on the Chief of Dalun, Naa Amidu Mahama and Chief of Voggu, Naa Sulemana Saaka.
The minister at separate meetings with the traditional rulers urged the chiefs and their subjects to register massively to give President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo another four more years to continue the good work.
The Chief of Dalun, Naa Amidu Mahama in an interaction with the minister and his entourage appealed to government to work on the 6 kilometers Kumbungu – Dalun feeder road project. He lamented the state of the road is something that affect commuters and economic activities particularly transporting farm produce to the district and regional capitals.
He reminded the government through the Business Development Minister about a senior high school project earmarked for construction in the community. He said the project when executed will bring secondary education closer to children in the community.
Naa Mahama also commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for implementing the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, which he explained further, has come to reduce the cost of agrochemicals for farmers and also boost yield for farmers.
However, he implored government to consider expanding the Bontanga dam to support all year farming in the community.
For his part, the Chief of Voggu, Naa Sulemana Saaka praised the award winning minister for always walking his talk. He said the NPP led administration should not relent on its efforts to transform the country to the level where all Ghanaians will benefit.
Nevertheless, Naa Sulemana Saaka implored Dr Awal to extend the government business support initiative to women in the community to scale up their small and medium size businesses.
He explained that these local women are breadwinners of their families who also support the education of their wards but however, lamented lack of adequate logistics and funds affects the growth of their rice processing business.
Meanwhile, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the Business Development Minister assured that government will make available funds to complete the ongoing road projects in the area.
He urged the Chiefs and people of the constituency to vote massively to renew the mandate of President Nana Akufo-Addo and vote the NPP Kumbungu Parliamentary Candidate to represent them in parliament come December 7.
He promised that the Business Development Ministry will support the women with the presidential business support program and also provide additional Rice mills to boost their rice processing business.
