Youth groups of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Zabzugu constituency have given their firm support to the Regional Chairman, Mr. Baantima Mohammed Samba to achieve the party’s target of winning 15 seats in the northern region.
Chairman Samba as part monitoring the ongoing voter registration exercise in the Zabzugu constituency on Friday, 17 July, 2020, met all 23 NPP youth groups in the area where he reinvigorated the spirit of the party’s core base to police the electoral process and encouraged more people to register before close of the exercise.
He said Zabzugu is part of the target 15 seats that the NPP wants to recapture from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, Chairman Do All as he is popularly called by sympathizers of the party commended the youth groups for their cooperation with the constituency elders, executives and the Parliamentary Candidate.
He admonished the youth to maintain unity and cohesion in the constituency before, during and after the elections, indicating that, “if all of us play our respective roles well that is when we will be able to win the seat and give the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo victory in December 7”.
The current Deputy Northern Regional Minister who doubles as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, John Benam Jabaah narrowly lost the seat to the NDC in 2016.
The NPP Regional Chairman later held close door meetings with the Parliamentary Candidate, Council of Elders and the Constituency Executives where he implored them to work in close collaboration for the victory of the party.
Chairman Samba said the 2020 campaign of the New Patriotic Party is based on the performance of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia against the abysmal performance he noted the erstwhile John Mahama NDC administration offered the country.
He maintained that the government’s performance is remarkable, therefore, added this must manifest in the general elections.
Meanwhile, Chairman Samba empowered the youth with financial support to mobilise the constituents to register.
The Director of Operations at the office of the Vice President, Hon Salam Mustapha, Deputy National Director of Communications, Mr. Mohammed Haruna and the Regional Secretary, Alhaji Sibdow were part of the entourage doing the monitoring with the Regional Chairman.
For his part, the Regional Director of Communication, Sule Salifu commended the council of elders for maintaining peace and unity post the internal parliamentary primaries.
He also urged the local communicators to focus in propagating and projecting the numerous policies and programs the NPP administration has implemented and shy away from the needless propaganda from their opponents.
