Residents of Zoozogu pledge to vote for NPP candidate for Tamale South constituency

The Zoozogu community in the Tamale South constituency have pledged to vote for the parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 7 December general election.

The assurance from the community is because the NPP candidate, Mr. Yakubu Yussif on Tuesday presented a cash amount of GHS5, 600 to the Chief of the village to extend pipe borne water from Datoyili to the community.

The Chief, Naa Abdul Rahaman Neindow appealed to the NPP Member of Parliament hopeful when he recently visited the community to introduce himself to the Chief and the community and solicit for their votes during the polls in December.

The community lamented that lack of good drinking water was a major problem and nightmare tormenting them day and night for several years now.

Mr. Yussif has therefore promised to help them connect to the national grid of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).

Consequent to that, Chairman of the NPP constituency Council of Elders together with some executives of the party presented the amount required GHS5,600 for the extension project to provide potable drinking water for the inhabitants.

The Chief, Naa Neindow in his remarks after he had received the money prayed to God to grant the wish of Mr. Yakubu Yussif to become the MP for Tamale South.

“I will talk to my people to vote for him in December because he has done something no one else has done for us all these years that we vote in our lives.

“We cannot say much but we will do what he also wants from us. We will vote for him and the NPP” Naa Neindow promised.

One of the Youth leaders in the community, Sulemana Adu Martin said several pleas to the Member of Parliament for the area, Haruna Iddrisu have not yielded any fruitful results.

He alleged the MP on several occasions took estimate of the project prepared by plumbers at an amount of GHS5,600 but he has never bothered to help.

According to Mr Martin, the only source of water for the area is a dam water they share with their animals, adding during the dry season the people suffer a lot for water.

“The State Housing Corporation for four years extended the water from Datoyili to their project site and said if we can contribute and connect from them but we couldn’t get the needed amount to do that and we appealed to Hon Haruna Iddrisu but he’s yet to attend to us all these years” he noted.

Meanwhile, the NPP Constituency Youth Organizer, Abdul Razak Issah said the situation is disheartening, considering the wealth amass by the four term NDC lawmaker.

“We cannot count the number of storey buildings constructed by Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu just as we cannot count the number of vehicles he owns and still he cannot provide good water for the constituents to drink”, he posited.

The Youth Organizer said the problem is not peculiar to Zoozogu, adding it cuts across almost all communities in the constituency.

He has therefore urged the people to vote for change.

The Youth Organiser said the NPP Yakubu Yussif as MP will bring the needed development to their doorsteps and communities in the second term of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
