Conference chairs donated by Hills Pharmaceuticals Limited to TTH

Hills Pharmaceuticals Limited has donated 50 conference chairs to the Pharmacy Directorate of Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

The donation was part of a wider effort to support staff training in Tamale Teaching Hospital to improve health care in the country.

The chairs would be used to furnish the Pharmacy Training unit to facilitate training of Pharmacy personnel.

Hills Pharmaceuticals Limited is one of the numerous firms that have made donations in the past to support health care in TTH.

On behalf of the management and the Board, the CEO of the hospital, Dr Kareem Mumuni duly appreciated Hills Pharmaceuticals for the kind gesture.

He also acknowledged other partners for their contributions towards making TTH a Centre of excellence for quality tertiary health care, medical education and research.

The CEO commended the Director of Pharmacy, Dr Hamidu Abdulai for his transformational leadership and encouraged him to keep up the good work. Over the years, the Pharmacy directorate has been able to achieve a well decentralized patient-based pharmacy practice in the hospital.

Recently, the Drug Information Centre has been resourced to support patient care and capacity building for staff and also the establishment of the Research and Pharmacovigilance units have further improved patient safety and satisfaction.

The Pharmacy Training Unit is one of the 16 units of the Pharmacy Directorate in TTH and has been utilized in training various cadres of pharmacy personnel including Pharm D students, Interns, House-Officers, Residents of Ghana College of Pharmacists and West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists.

THE CUSTODIAN also noted that, over time, the Directorate has attained excellence in experiential pharmacy training in line with the hospital’s vision and global standards.

It has so far been considered as the best training site in the country and attracts trainees at various levels from different parts of the country.

In the words of Dr Hamidu Abdulai ‘’every patient needs a pharmacist and collaborations with the pharmacy team to optimize patient care and safety is the way forward’’.
