Delegates of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, in the Bunkpurugu constituency in the North East Region have declared their support for Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo as the party’s 2024 presidential candidate.

The delegates believe the candidature of Dr Bawumia will be the surest bet for the NPP to break the traditional 8-year cycle political parties steer the governance affairs of the country.

The Secretary of the party, Sugru Louknaan announced this during the Bunkpurugu Constituency Delegates Conference on Saturday, 21 August, 2021.

He affirmed that the decision of the delegates is without any form of coercion or inducement but their fervent believe that the NPP must break the 8 years cycle of parties in government.

“We do hereby declare our unalloyed and unwavering support for His Excellency the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the party as our flagbearer into the 2024 presidential election based on his strong appeal, marketability and performance as Ghana’s Vice President from January, 2017 to date” he stated.

The governing party is expected to organize the Annual Delegates Conference across the 275 constituencies in the country. This is in accordance with Article 7(27) of the NPP constitution.
