Ms Fathia Abdul-Aziz, a Staffer at the Office of the President has commissioned a Mosque at Tolon Gburumani, suburb of the Tolon district in the northern region in fulfillment of a promise made the Almighty God in the lead up to the 2020 general elections.

The edifice was handed to the Chief Imam and traditional leaders of the community at a short Islamic ceremony Friday, 27 August, 2021.

It is one of four she promised to construct in some four selected less privilege communities in the region.

In an interview with THE CUSTODIAN, Hajia Fathia said, “ Prior to the 2020 general elections, I made a promise to the Almighty Allah that if by his grace, my father, my boss, my mentor, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was voted for his second tenure in office, I will construct Mosques in four less privilege communities”.

She continued, “By the grace of God, we have commissioned one of the four projects”.

Hajia Fathia Abdul-Aziz further disclosed two communities in the Savelugu municipality have been earmarked to benefit from the intervention.  

She is optimistic that the remaining three projects will be completed by the end of this year and handed to the beneficiary villages for use.  

However, the Staffer implored the inhabitants to develop good maintenance culture so as to ensure the facility serve its rightful purpose for a longer period.

Naa Kayaba Tia, a sub Chief of Gburumani on behalf of the community Chief expressed their gratitude to Ms Fathia for such wonderful intervention.

He assured the people will put the facility to good use.

Some of the residents who also spoke to THE CUSTODIAN lauded the benevolence of Ms Fathia and prayed for her, adding, “What Hajia Fathia has done for us is remarkable and we would do whatever it takes to maintain it in good shape”.

Meanwhile, the Mosque is furnished with floor tiles, ceiling fans and other ancillary facilities and connected to electricity.
