The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo central constituency has organised a health walk to promote good health and unity among the electorates and supporters of the party.

The health walk, which was themed, “Unity Our Power and Strength to Recapture Our Seat”, saw the party leadership in the region, constituency, and some political appointees, lead supporters through some principal streets in Navrongo clad in party paraphernalia.

Notable party stalwarts who joined the walk included Anthony Namoo, the Upper East regional chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Otito Achuliwor, the executive director of the Ghana Libya Arab Holding Company Limited and Joseph Adongo, the Navrongo municipal chief executive.

Members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) from the various tertiary institutions within the Navrongo municipality also joined the walk.

Reuniting for victory

The various speakers who took turns to address the supporters, reiterated the need to foster unity to solidify the party prospects in the general election in 2024.

Alhaji Otito Achuliwor, who has availed himself to contest the parliamentary primaries, stated that the fortunes of the party would increase if the supporters are able to mend their differences and team up in unity.

He said the last election defeat the party suffered which resulted in the NDC winning by landslide in the constituency, was largely due to the deep cracks within the party.

Mr. Achuliwor said the opposition National Democratic Congress would not have been able to win the election if the NPL was united.

“The NDC here [Navrongo central constituency] has less numbers than us [NPP] so anytime they win, it means they have gotten borrowed votes from the NPP”, Mr. Achuliwor asserted.

He noted that the huge number of supporters who participated in the health walk was indication that the party stood a brighter chance to snatch the Parliamentary seat from the NDC.

Whilst he was hopeful the numbers would translate in unity in the constituency, he urged the supporters especially the youth to put the division behind them and work in unison for victory in 2024.

Joseph Adongo, the Navrongo municipal chief executive, said the huge gathering of supporters was evident that members have buried their differences and were ready to work together for victory in 2024.

He appealed to the supporters to not dwell on pass grudges, forgive one another and work towards the best interests of the New Patriotic Party.

“We make mistakes, but don’t let us dwell on the mistakes. Let us look at the positive aspects, forgive each other and do what is possible by working together so that 2024 all of us will be smiling.”
