Razak Koampa Avoliya, Suame constituency NDC youth organiser

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Organiser for the Suame constituency in the Ashanti Region, Razak Koampa Avoliya also known as ‘Mosquito’ in the area, has been granted a GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties by the Asokwa District Court.

The Suame Mosquito was remanded in police custody last week when he was arraigned at the District Court presided over by Fred Obikyere for inciting political violence.

He was in court on the charge of offensive conduct, conducive to breaches of peace of the state.

The accused handed himself to the police after he was declared a wanted man when he made some unsavoury statements in a viral video.

‘We’ll kill to win 2024 elections’

In the video, the Suame NDC constituency youth organiser was seen and heard suggesting that the leading opposition party may not be capable of winning elections in Ghana against the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through a free and fair process except through the use of violence.

“My experience in politics has taught me that we (NDC) cannot win an election against the NPP and Akufo-Addo on paper, we can only win through violence and you cannot have violence without casualties.

“Together with the youth of Suame, we have taken a decision to visit mayhem on all NPP members because it is the only way we can survive in the political space in the country.

“As a political party, all we need is power and there is no law that indicates that power can only be acquired from the Bible before you get the opportunity to serve in office.

“If President Akufo-Addo killed eight people to win power, why should it be strange for the NDC to kill two people in Suame to pave way for John Mahama of the NDC to return to power”, the Suame NDC Mosquito stated in the video.

Avoliya who was speaking to the media during a party engagement claimed that the Akufo-Addo administration is not a government that could be dealt with using the law and verbal conversation.

He observed that no political party can go into an election without casualties and averred that the assaults and attacks that NDC followers have suffered in the hands of the NPP in the Suame Constituency is enough.

Avoliya observed that since the youth are the section of the party followers who have usually been targeted for attacks, they have taken a decision to also beat any NPP supporter who attacks them.

This action, Avoliya said, is the only way left for the party to survive the NPP aggression in the constituency.

“I advise all he branch Youth Organizers, when you are going prepare yourself but don’t target supporters of the NDC.

“However, any NPP person that confronts you, if you can hit him with a stick for the party to win power, hit him; if you can shoot the person with a gun for the party to win, then shoot because President Akufo-Addo has shown us that you can kill for power.

“If he can kill for power then we are ready. So if you hear me saying it publicly, we are doing it and we are going to practice it. We are ever ready.

“If you look at the likes of the national executives we have elected, they encourage us to do this. As journalists you saw what happened during the 2020 elections where people running away were even shot dead”, the NDC youth activist added.
