The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the major shakeup of his government. The party has expressed gratitude and appreciation to the President for what they describe a decisive government reshuffle which the appointment of new Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

According to the NPP, the decision to reshuffle the appointees underscores the President’s commitment to fostering progress and revitalizing our administration.

Nana Akufo-Addo today Wednesday (February 14, 2024) announced a major ministerial reshuffle which saw the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, Minister for Local, Decentralization and Rural Development, Dan Kweku Botwe, Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu and Roads and Highways Minister, Kwesi Amoako Atta dismissed from their portfolios.

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has been reassigned to the Works and Housing, while Francis Asenso Boakye, Works and Housing Minister has been moved to the Roads and Highways Ministry.

Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, was also moved to the Office of the President as a Minister of State.

Deputy Information Minister, Ms. Fatimatu Abubakar, has been elevated and is now the minister-designate for the Ministry of Information. Deputy Minister of Energy, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has also been elevated to the position of Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministrer-designate.

The Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei South Constituency, Madam Dakoa Newman is now the Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Also, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Seyram Alhassan is the Minister-designate for Sanitation and Water Resources.

Former Deputy Minister of Health and now Chief Executive Officer for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Bernard Okoe Boye is the Health Minister-designate.

On the back of this development, General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong in a statement issued on Wednesday commended those departing from the roles, urging them to continue to supporting the government and the party in our collective pursuit of national development.

“To the incoming appointees, we extend our congratulation message and warmest wishes. As they assume new responsibilities, we urge them to bring forth innovative ideas and unwavering dedication to serve the good people of Ghana” he added.

Mr. Kodua intimated the contribution newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers would be instrumental in propelling the party and government to a historic victory in the upcoming 2024 general elections.  

He stated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has once again demonstrated his responsiveness to the needs of the nation, affirming his commitment to governance that listens and acts in the best interests of the people.

“Let us forge ahead together with unity, determination, and a shared vision for a brighter future for all. It is indeed possible to break the eight for the prosperity of our dear country and its people” he admonished.
