The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Northern Region has received fifty (50) buckets of paint from the Azar Group to rehabilitate a CHPS compound at Mutondo in the Yendi municipality. The donation is part of an ongoing private sector engagement efforts initiated by GHS, aimed at rallying support from local businesses to enhance public health facilities across the country.
The Marketing Manager of Azar Group, Mr. Mike Donikian, at a brief ceremony last Friday (July 26, 2024) in the northern regional capital, Tamale, handed the items to regional authorities of the GHS.
He noted that the company continues to support various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians as a leading paint manufacturer in Ghana.
Mr. Mike expressed the company’s commitment to contributing to the health and well-being of communities in Ghana.
“We are proud to support the Ghana Health Service in its mission to promote healthy living. Our donation is a testament to our dedication to giving back to the community and ensuring that health facilities are in the best condition to serve the people,” he stated.
The Northern Region Regional Director of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Abdulai Abukari, on his part expressed his excitement at seeing more Ghanaian-owned businesses taking up the mantle to support health facilities in Ghana.
Dr Abdulai said, “It is heartening to witness the private sector’s growing involvement in our health initiatives. The dedication of Azar Group to this cause exemplifies the type of partnership we hope to foster moving forward.”
He indicated that the Ghana Health Service remains committed to ensuring healthy living for all Ghanaians, adding “With the support of the private sector, we can achieve even greater outcomes”.
The acting Director of Health Promotion, Madam Director Mabel Asafo, conveyed her immense gratitude to the Azar Group for their invaluable contribution.
“Azar Group has truly stepped up to the plate, and we are deeply appreciative of their support. This donation will go a long way in improving the environment of the Mutondo CHPS compound, making it a more welcoming and hygienic place for both staff and patients,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, in collaboration with the USAID, the Health Promotion Division of Ghana Health Service in implementing the Ghana Accelerating Social and Behavior Change (ASBC) initiative which seeks to achieve a strategic objective to lead SBC efforts using tested mass media and community engagement tools, whereby target populations (women of reproductive age, newborns, children <5, adolescents/youth <25) sustainably adopt healthy behaviors and practices, including timely use of health services and products nationally and in Northern Ghana – in the 17 USAID Zones of Influence (ZOI) where the most severe health disparities persist.
