Dr Anane Agyei, Executive Director of the Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD), has described Gordon Asare-Bediako as one of the most capable figures within the communication architecture of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing his extensive media experience, strategic insight and deep understanding of political communication.
Speaking during internal party consultations and interactions with journalists on the contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director, Dr Agyei stated that Mr Asare-Bediako possesses the qualities required to lead and reposition the party’s communication machinery ahead of future political engagements.
According to him, the increasingly competitive nature of Ghana’s political environment demands communication leadership that combines intellectual depth, practical media experience, discipline and strategic clarity.
“Gordon is knowledgeable, courageous and powerfully insightful. He understands the intricacies of political communication and possesses the strategic depth, discipline and clarity required to succeed as a General in the communication army of a modern political party. He is solid and checks the boxes convincingly,” Dr Agyei remarked.
Mr Gordon Asare-Bediako, a Professional Teacher and seasoned Journalist, Brands expert and a Chartered Marketer both United Kingdom and Ghana, is widely known within political and media circles for his longstanding experience across radio, television and newspaper platforms.
Political observers within the NPP have increasingly pointed to his communication background and media versatility as strengths that could enhance the party’s public engagement and message coordination.
Dr Agyei further noted that effective political communication in the contemporary era requires individuals who not only understand the media landscape, but also appreciate the ideological direction, organisational discipline and public expectations associated with modern democratic politics.

” The party needs a Communications Director not a Spokesperson. There’s a clear distinction”
He stressed that the office of National Communications Director remains one of the most strategic positions within the party’s national structure and therefore requires an individual capable of combining media sophistication with political tact and credibility.
The contest for the NPP National Communications Director position is expected to attract significant attention within party ranks as stakeholders continue consultations ahead of the party’s internal processes.
Political analysts believe the outcome could play an important role in shaping the party’s communication strategy and public image in the coming years.
Dr Agyei’s remarks add to growing discussions within the party and the wider political space concerning the qualiti toes necessary for effective communication leadership in Ghana’s evolving democratic environment.
