The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Hon Mahama Ayariga, has strongly condemned the killing of the Bongo District Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mohammed Seidu Akugri, describing it as both “gruesome” and “dastardly.”
“I hereby condemn, in no uncertain terms, the shooting, killing and burning of the body of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, who was the Bongo district director of National Health Insurance Authority” he said.
The deceased was allegedly shot and killed, with his body subsequently set ablaze in Nangodi, a community near Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
In a statement dated Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Mr. Ayariga expressed his deep condolences to the family of the deceased, whom he described as a “comrade.”
Meanwhile, the Bawku lawmaker has called on the law enforcement agencies to conduct investigations and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
