The Dagbon traditional area was left in a solemn state when news about the sudden death of Mr. Iddrisu Abubakari Sadiq popularly known as Zuu Bukali Tia II, an illustrious son of the Dagbon kingdom based in the United States of America was announced.

He is said to have died after short illness in the US where he is working as an Audit Manager with Enrst and Young firm, a global accounting company in America. The social commentator according to information gathered by the Custodian Online had a surgery earlier this year.

However, it is unclear what could’ve caused his untimely death that has left many sympathisers and the youth in the northern region sad.

Mr. Iddrisu is also a philanthropist who recently led a fund raising campaign in the Diaspora to mobilise an amount five thousand two hundred Ghana cedis (GHS5, 200) to pay for the surgery of an year old girl diagnosed with Occipital Hamangioma of the Brain and Bone at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and additional five hundred (GHS500) cedis for her up keep.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the late Zuu Bukali Tia II would be laid to rest Monday, 19 October, 2020, in the US at 19:30 GMT Ghana time according to a schedule announced earlier

Zuu Bukali Tia II is widely admired among the youth of Dagbon because of his resolve to always promote the tradition and culture of Dagombas abroad.

Meanwhile, Regent of Nanung, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Dasana Andani has sent his condolence on behalf of the chiefs and people of the traditional kingdom to the bereaved family and described the late Sadiq as someone who was passionate about the Gbewa lineage (Dagbon, Nanung and Mamprugu). He recounted how the deceased sacrificed his time, knowledge and resources for the Gbewa tradition to take its proper place in national discourse.
