DAYA Executives Takes Oath of Office

Executives of the Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) have been sworn into office after holding a successful national congress in Tamale few weeks ago to revamp the association.

At a short ceremony at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi on Sunday, July 31, 2022, the DAYA leadership took the oath of allegiance and oath of secrecy in the presence of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II.

The new executives are: Mr. Adam Baba issifu, President, Dr Marzuq Abubakari, First Vice President, Dr Fati Iddrisu, Second Vice President and Alhaji Jagbo Baako as General Secretary.

The others include: Hon Haruna Mohammed Mburidiba, Mohammed Hudu Salam and Zakaria Mohammed Taufique as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Assistant General Secretaries respectively. The rest are; Dr Alhassan Nagumsi, National Treasurer, Al-hassan Ibrahim, National Organizing Secretary and their respective deputies and Halid Abu Ishmail as the Communications Director.

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II congratulated the executives and offered his blessings for the group to discharge their mandate.

He welcomed the idea of revamping the group after years of being in the doldrums and charged the executives to consolidate the peace and unity in the Dagbon traditional area.

“I am happy that the youth have decided to continue the work of their forebearers to contribute their quota to the development of Dagbon. This would encourage the younger generation to emulate the steps taken today so that in the near future they would also take up the responsibility to continue the work” the King posited.

Na Abukari II added the group should be used as a tool to bring development to the area.

“But let me urge you to be patient with each other in your endeavors, remain united as a group and shun bitterness amongst your ranks so that, you can achieve the desire objectives of the group” he advised.

The DAYA President, Mr. Adam Baba issifu, for his part described the day as memorable one and said the admonishment from the Dagbon King would guide the group moving forward.

He noted the intention of the association first and famous is to consolidate the prevailing peace and unity to realize the needed development for everybody within the precincts of the ancient traditional area and beyond.

“That apart, the Ya Naa advised us to ensure that there is always consultation between the current executives and the immediate past executives and any other person who has laudable contributions to enhance our aspirations.”

He added in the nut-shell, “Ours is to ensure that we work for development and the recognition of Dagbon in its proper place in the community of nations”.
