Farouk Aliu Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Yendi constituency has commissioned two solar-powered community based water systems for residents of Gambuhi and Nakpachei as part activities to celebrate his 43th birthday last Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The two projects are part of a comprehensive water extension programme the New Patriotic Party lawmaker has undertaken, aimed at extending potable water supply to major communities in his constituency.
The initiative is expected to mitigate the persistent water challenges affecting socio economic activities of the people of Yendi annually.
“I am deeply committed to see through my objective of touching every nook and cranny of the constituency as a means of addressing immediate problems of the constituency” Farouk Mahama stated in his remarks.
An estimated population of about four thousand people is anticipated to benefit from the two projects which were commissioned and handed over to local authorities in the respective communities.
The MP earlier in the morning organized Quran recitation at his private residence to pray to his maker and express gratitude for his life, family and political endeavors.
Meanwhile, the widely publicized birthday party was attended by siblings and family members of the lawmaker, politicians, business associates among other high profile personalities and scores of NPP supporters in Yendi, northern region and other parts of the country.
In a related development, the legislator has also undertaken an initiative to dredge some selected community dams to expand ahead of this year’s rains.
The MP announced that the Napina dam will be the start off point and the exercise is expected to take two days before the next community.
He said the primary objective of the dredging exercise is to restore the integrity of the dams and to increase its storage capacity to store rainwater during the period to serve residents of Nayilifong, Meindogu, and Kalibila.
