The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced a 15-hour power outage (Dumsor) in parts of the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, August 23, to enable engineers to replace a damaged transmission tower at Ashaiman.
The interruption is scheduled for 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will facilitate the next phase of replacement works on the damaged tower along the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line.
GRIDCo said the tower was damaged following a tanker explosion in the area.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, the company said its engineers and technical teams would use the outage period to safely complete the remaining works needed to restore the transmission line.
According to GRIDCo, the exercise will require the temporary interruption of power supply to some areas within the Greater Accra Region.
The company added that it is working with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to minimise the impact of the outage on customers and communities in the affected areas.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this interruption will cause and request the patience, understanding and cooperation of the public as GRIDCO works progressively to complete this critical work,” the statement concluded.
