The governing New Patriotic Party in the northern region has called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate and apprehend perpetrators of Tuesday broad day shooting incident at the National Democratic Congress Regional Headquarters for prosecution.
The NPP Northern Regional Communications Director, Mr. Sayibu Yussif Danjumah in a statement has said the safety and security of residents Tamale cannot be jeopardize by the parochial interest of some hoodlums and their pay maters.
He noted the desire for who leads the NDC should not turn into such culture of violence and acrimony and called for the immediate intervention of the party’s national leadership to find an amicable solution to impasse.
According to him, the sad situation of the NDC in the Northern Region reflects the defective state of the party at all levels, hence stating the people of Ghana should never make a mistake by handing over the affairs of the country to them.

The New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region has noted with serious concern recent developments in the camp of the opposition National Democratic Congress in Tamale.
These concerns that bothered on the choice of a successor to the immediate past late regional Chairman of the NDC ordinary should not be a matter of the concern to the NPP.
However, the open confrontations characterised by violent skirmishes with sporadic gun shooting will certainly will be a matter of interest to every likeminded person or group of persons especially so when the Tamale Metropolis and the Northern Region has enjoyed relative peace and coexistence for some time now.
The afternoon of today Tuesday 23/08/22 witness the turning of the NDC regional secretariat into scenes similar to what we are seeing between Russia and Ukraine.
Even though the NDC is noted in our political history to always resolve its internal disagreements with violence, one would have expected that Ghana’s democratic evolution and consolidation has transcend beyond such sub-culture of violence and acrimony.
The NPP here in the Northern Region is therefore calling on the leadership of the party at the national level to immediately intervene in finding a lasting solution to the issues.
A political party that prides itself as a credible alternative to the current government should not be seen reducing itself to such embarrassing situation.
The sad situation of the NDC here in the Northern Region reflects the defective state of the party at all levels hence the people of Ghana should never make a mistake by handing over the affairs of this country to them as inch closer to the next national polls.
While we pray for an immediate resolution to the issues, we equally call on the security agencies to as a matter of urgency activate its investigative prowess to identify and punish all the perpetrators behind the issues.
The safety and security of the people of Tamale cannot be jeopardise by the parochial interest of some hoodlums and their pay maters.
