The Gushegu Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region have commended the Member of Parliament for the area, Lawyer Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, for singlehandedly funding the entire budget for this year’s Independence Day celebration in the municipality.
The Gushegu Municipal Coordinating Director, Osman Musah, in a circular cited by THE CUSTODIAN on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, said without the support of the MP who doubles as a Deputy Transport Minister, the celebration might not have been possible.
He disclosed the Gushegu Municipal Independence Day Planning Committee presented a budget sum of GH₵43,515.00 to the lawmaker for consideration and he (Alhassan Tampuli) gladly accepted to finance the entire program which was successfully organized.
“The Assembly is grateful to the Hon Member of Parliament/Deputy Minister of Transport for funding the entire budget of the Assembly, without which the celebration might not have been possible.”
Meanwhile, the budget covered all the expenses for the Independence Day celebration including awards for some outstanding individual students, workers and institutions in the municipality.
“This budget of GH₵43,515.00 included all the awards which were given to various awardees” Mr. Musah added.
Meanwhile, the Gushegu legislator in 2022 gave out 125 plasma televisions and laptops to best performing students, teachers, civil servants as well as senior citizens in the municipality for immense contributions to the growth and development of the area.
The MP has also initiated an educational fund to support brilliant but needy students to acquire tertiary education. This intervention, Mr. Tampuli believes will reduce the financial burden on less privileged families in the community.
He has also provided tractors and agricultural mechanization center to support farmers in the Gushegu area which is predominantly an agrarian enclave in the northern region.
