Kwabena Agyepong with the late Hajia Ramatu Mahama

The former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has eulogized the life of the late former Second Lady of Ghana, Hajia Ramatu Mahama.

He stated the deceased was a graceful, kind and generous person who carried herself in dignity and humility.

“The Agyepong family is profoundly saddened by the news of the passing to eternal glory of Hajia Ramatu Mahama, wife of our departed Vice President, His Excellency Alhaji Aliu Mahama” the former Press Secretary to President John Agyekum Kufuor.

“All our thoughts and prayers are with the children and family. May the Almighty God continue to bless them and grant them fortitude and endurance during this difficult period. Indeed we have lost a mother!!!! It is well. RIP Mummy” Mr. Agyepong wrote on his Facebook page.

Mrs. Aliu Mahama died last Thursday afternoon (April 7, 2022) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

She died at 70.

The government of Ghana has since taken charge to honor the deceased her last respect before the mortal remains would be airlifted today Saturday to Tamale for burial in line with the Islamic tradition.

The family announced the burial ceremony will start with Quranic recitation at the family residence in Accra before the body will be moved to the Independence Square where His Eminence, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu will lead the Janaza prayer (Islamic prayer).

The body would thereafter leave Accra with the Ghana Airforce to Tamale where she would be laid to rest closer to the tomb of her late husband, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, at their Kalpohin private home.
