Concern Youth of Kpandai addressing Journalists

Some Youth of the Kpandai District in the northern region have accused the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon Nsala Wakpal of defrauding the already impoverished constituents.

According to the youth, the lawmaker has also failed to fulfill his campaign promises that resulted in the people giving him their mandate to represent them in Ghana’s Parliament.

“We the Concerned Youth Of Kpandai have noted with disappointment the allegations that our non-performing MP Hon. Nsala Wakpal through the Communications Officer of the NDC has taken money from some poor constituents of the Kpandai Constituency who were in dire need of enlistment into the security services” the group alleged.

Addressing a news confab over the weekend, President of the group, Kassim Abu Sadiq claims that the legislator has taken GHS12,000 each from his unsuspecting victims through the NDC Communication Officer for the constituency to get them allegedly recruited into the state security agencies.

He said the development is appalling because individuals who are in need were used to rather enrich one who is supposed to be of help to them.

Refund

The group has consequently requested the lawmaker and his constituency party officer to as a matter of urgency do a refund of all monies collected from the vulnerable victims or rather speak to the people of any wrongdoing.

“Our call is premised on the saying that “if you cannot help a blind person, you should not take away his walking stick”, A saying which aptly captures what is being alleged of the honourable MP” Mr. Kassim stated.

Failed Campaign Promises

Meanwhile, the Group has also outlined some campaign promises the NDC MP made to the people prior to the 2020 general election but nothing is being done to honor those promises.

The President, Kassim Abu Sadiq said the then NDC Parliamentary candidate promised to tap water from river Oti at Ncanchina to the Kpandai district capital to solve the perennial water crisis in the area.

However, he bemoan this promise has not seen light of the day and the people demand answers to this failed promise.

According to him, Mr. Wakpal was also heard promising some apprentices in the constituency an appreciable amount of money as seed capital to start their businesses and also to give each graduating apprentice a sewing machine.

He said a number of the apprentices have since completed their training but nothing has been given to them and questioned whether it is the case that the MP scammed these individuals and their parents too.

In addition to the above failed promise is the provision of chop box, prospectus and provisions to students who have successfully sailed through their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

“The MP had also promised the good people of Kpandai that when elected as MP, he will supply the aforementioned items to students and parents in order to supplement the free SHS policy by the President of Ghana and the NPP government. But as it stands now, no single child in the Constituency has been assisted with these items. We are talking of 4,050 graduates for both 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic years.

“We are aware that the MP still has 2 years more to exit power but does that mean those who graduated from the JHS and are now in SHS are not part of the Constituency or are not fit for the support from the MP as promised?

Meanwhile, when THE CUSTODIAN contacted the lawmaker for his response to these allegations, he sharply rubbished the claims and said the youth bandits of the governing NPP and therefore he would not comment further.

However, he said he was working tirelessly as an opposition MP to improve the lives of the people and his achievement in about two years could not be compared to that of his predecessor from the NPP.
