Ing Peter Antwi Bosiako, Deputy Director General - CoTVET

The sudden show of support by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Free SHS policy is a total camouflage, Ing Peter Antwi Bosiako, the Deputy Director-General, Technical and Vocational Education Training Commission (CTVET), has said.

He pointed out that the NDC sponsored over 50 advertisements against the Free SHS in the run up to 2016 general election, under John Mahama’s administration.

According to him, the NDC even attempted to stop the implementation of the Free SHS policy through the Supreme Court.

Ing Boasiako said former President Mahama even despised the results of the West Africa Senior s

Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE), claiming that teachers and invigilators aided the students to cheat.

He indicated that the current flagbearer of the NDC also stated that it was not wise to pump – in a whooping GH¢2 billion into the FSHS programme alone noting “I will review it in my next government”.

Again, that the current General – Secretary of NDC, Fifi Kwetey led series of massive protests against the introduction of the milestone and historic education policy, stressing that every member of NDC opposed the free SHS.

Today, he added, the NDC again has vowed to kick against Akufo – Addo-led government decision to present the Free Senior High School Bill to Parliament in the coming days, aimed at regulating the policy and ensuring its sustainability.

Ing Antwi Bosiako said NDC has opposed every single social and economic intervention programme initiated by the government of NPP including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), oil recovery, Ghana card and other digitalisation policies.

“About 1.4 million students under the policy are fed three times daily, provide uninterrupted water supply, electricity and other expenses by the government under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Results of the FSHS policy has improved tremendously because of the quality, affordability and conveniences and such a milestone programme should be protected” he stated.

Ing Antwi Bosiako noted that management and sustainability of the policy depends on intelligent and creative minds of NPP who are the brain behind it, saying that NDC members are novices in quality education formulation and growth.

The Deputy Director-General CTVET said huge amount of money invested in the free secondary education by the government is unprecedented and it takes strong leaders with bold decisions to do so.

“Every individual Ghanaian I have met in my tour around the country has promised to vote massively for the NPP in appreciation to the implementation and sustainability of the policy” he stated.
