The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has honoured one of its most dedicated and longstanding loyalists, Mr. Clemence Kwasi Boadzo Asempapa of Abutia in the Ho West Constituency, as he celebrated his 100th birthday in grand style.
Mr. Asempapa, a revered figure within the party in the Volta Region, is also the uncle of the prominent NPP Ohene household of Abutia, with notable personalities such as Elizabeth Ohene and Dr Sammy Ohene serving as leading figures of the family.
The centenary celebration drew high-profile members of the NPP, including former National Chairman Peter Mac Manu and former Presidential Advisor on Health Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, who travelled to Abutia on Sunday to join family, friends, and party faithful for a thanksgiving service in honour of the celebrant.

The Thanksgiving service was held at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Abutia Teti, where members of the Ho West Constituency NPP, led by constituency executives, joined the congregation in celebrating the remarkable milestone. The church service was followed by jubilant festivities at the celebrant’s residence.
As part of the celebration, the Women’s Organiser of the constituency, who hails from Abutia, presented a special donation and citation to Mr. Asempapa in recognition of his unwavering loyalty and years of sacrifice for the party.

Within the Volta Region NPP fraternity, Mr. Asempapa is widely regarded as a legend and one of the earliest open supporters of the NPP at a time when publicly identifying with the party in the region was considered unpopular and risky.
Many at the event reflected on the difficult early years when Mr. Asempapa was reputedly the only person in his hometown bold enough to wear an NPP T-shirt openly. However, Sunday’s celebration painted a different picture, symbolising how far the party has grown in the region over the years.

In a moment filled with emotion and pride, Chairman Peter Mac Manu, Dr. Nsiah-Asare, constituency executives, and local party members joined together to sing the NPP anthem loudly during the birthday celebration, while the 100-year-old celebrant proudly wore an NPP scarf to loud cheers from attendees.

Both Chairman Mac Manu and Dr. Nsiah-Asare made cash donations and expressed gratitude to Mr. Asempapa for his steadfast commitment to the party over the decades
They noted that their presence at the ceremony was intended to demonstrate that the NPP values loyalty and deeply appreciates the sacrifices made by pioneering members such as Mr. Asempapa, whose dedication helped sustain the party during challenging times.

A healthy and visibly delighted Mr. Asempapa expressed joy and appreciation for the recognition shown to him by the party he has faithfully supported throughout his life.
