Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, aspiring NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman

Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), the Ashanti regional Chairman hopeful for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has surprised Zongo communities, especially Muslim Journalists in the region and several NPP Muslim groups.

He has donated various items to the Muslims as part of his contribution towards their religious annual fasting & prayers to mark the Holy Ramadan month.

The items include bags sugar, cartons of milk and tea and assorted drinks among other items.

Odeneho who is also the incumbent Kwabre South chairman and doubles as Chairman of Association of Constituency chairmen donation was extended to NPP Muslim groups including serial callers, Radio & TV Communicators, Nasara coordinators, Muslims groups in Asawase constituency, Kejetia and Central Market leadership among other stakeholders as well as Chief Iman to support the needy ones respectively.

Even though, the donations were done privately some of the beneficiaries could not hide their appreciation to the Ashanti regional chairman hopeful.

Some of the beneficiaries said they were shocked and surprised about the donation.

They described the donations as Allah-sent in this era when cost of items are rising with high cost of living in Ghana and across the world.

The beneficiaries encouraged COKA to continue his gesture since giving is Central in Islam.

It is on record that charitable giving is one of the most important responsibilities in Islam because it impacts the welfare of the individual and society as a whole.

Charity is considered the noblest way of spending wealth.

According to Islamic tradition, Zakat or charity is the Third pillar of Islam and a major teaching of the Holy Prophet (SAW).

It would be recalled that for the first time in the political history of the region, Chairman Odeneho who is affectionately called COKA distributed Christmas Cards to media practitioners, NPP communicators in the region among other stakeholders.

As soon as it was made public the incumbent Chairman quickly rushed to embark on a similar gesture to save his face after he has been accused by many party activists especially the communicators of the party for abandoning them. Mr. Alhassan Okogyeabour who received the items on behalf of the journalist is said to have commended the leader of COKA family for the love shown to them.

They also prayed for Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), asked for Allah’s peace and protection for him during his political journey.
