The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with a shooting incident that left former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo injured at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
In an official press release issued on Sunday, the Regional Public Affairs Unit detailed that the arrests followed a distress call received by police personnel from the National Operations Directorate and Intelligence Directorate, who were on special duty.
According to the police, the incident occurred while a ceremony was underway at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena.
Adwoa Safo reportedly arrived at the premises and was denied entry, after which armed security personnel allegedly opened fire, injuring the lawmaker. Her vehicle sustained multiple gunshot marks.

A subsequent search of the scene led to the recovery of significant weaponry and equipment: five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication devices.
The six suspects and all recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Police Headquarters for further processing as investigations continue. Police say they are actively working to locate and apprehend any other individuals linked to the shooting.
The Ghana Police Service has described the matter as ongoing and assured the public that updates will be provided as more details emerge.
This incident has drawn significant attention given Hon. Adwoa Safo’s prominence as a senior politician and former minister. Further details on her current medical condition have not yet been released by authorities or her office.
