Gmaba Naa Wumbei Zakaria presenting the check and items to Bimbila Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Somed Abdulai

Former Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Sa-eed, has presented a check amount of ten thousand (GHS10,000) to the Chief Imam of Bimbila for the construction of a fence wall to protect the public burial site.

He also donated 300 bags of cement, 10 wheelbarrows, 20 shovels, 10 pick axes, 10 block molding containers, 6 trips of sea sand and 4 water tanks to enable the successful execution of the project.

The fence wall construction has become necessary to prevent private individuals from encroaching on the land which happens to be the final place of abode for hundreds of people in the municipality.

THE CUSTODIAN understands the project has become more critical to protect the cemetery from recalcitrant persons who have resorted into using the graveyard as a place of convenience and other spiritual purposes.

Chief Gmaba Naa Wumbei Zakaria and Gbei Naa Amadu Mustapha Zakari handed these items to the Chief Imam on behalf of Mr. Sa-eed on Friday, September 9, 2022.

The Bimbila Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Somed Abdulai received the donation on behalf of the community and further handed them over to the committee in charge of the construction.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Inusah Dasuli after receiving the items said it has arrived timely and would go a long way to make the project successful; explaining the reason for the construction is to preserve the land for its intended purpose.

“We thank Salifu Sa-eed for the gesture he has shown. In fact, it is a bother on every community in terms of land acquisition and preservation and this sign will help us preserve our cemetery so that encroachers will not find the space and time to encroach on the land” he said.

In his remarks after the presentation, Naa Zakaria disclosed that the former District Chief Executive for the Nanumba North has also pledged to implore the services of an architect to design the entrance of the graveyard.

“He was appealed to see the need for us to block or prevent encroachment on the public cemetery land and when the information got to him, he thought wise to contribute his widows might” he said.

The Chief seized the opportunity to urge the inhabitants of Bimbila to own the construction process and to come out in their numbers to support the work.
