Mayor of Tamale, Mr. Iddrisu Musah Superior

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Musah Iddrisu Superior, has said the governing New Patriotic Party stands the chance to win the 2024 general election if the government works hard to overturn the current economic situation in the country and pay off arrears of the government flagship programs.

“I don’t use the phrase breaking the 8, if you observe me; I say we’re going to win the election. It is possible and not possible. There are some issues that if we’re able to resolve, it will propel our chances.

“For example, NABCo is coming to an end in September as announced by the Minister for Finance in the Mid-year Budget Review but some of the beneficiaries have worked for six or seven without receiving their stipends, the government should pay their arrears before end of the program. Secondly, some beneficiaries of the Youth in Afforestation have also worked for about 14 months without receiving salaries – so we must try to find money to clear all these outstanding arrears including the Teacher and Nursing Trainee arrears” he said.

When this is done, the outspoken former Mayor of Tamale believes the NPP is around 50 per cent ahead of winning the polls.

According to him, the opposition National Democratic Congress is out with propaganda and mischief to undermine the impact of policy interventions, stressing these are far-reaching policies that would benefit the nation in the long term.

“Like the National Health Service in Britain, its 71 years today but it hasn’t been able to solve all problems of the people but it is one of the most efficient health delivery service in the world” he argued.
