The Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the northern region, Mr. Adam Mohammed  Baantima Samba has implored the various political parties in the country to join government to fight against the novel coronavirus disease in Ghana.

In his view, the virus does not know members of NPP,  the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) nor any other political party around the world.

Chairman Do All as he is affectionately called by supporters of the NPP said it is time for the largest opposition NDC and all parties in the political arena to rally support behind government to vigorously combat the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.

He maintained that, political parties are key stakeholders in the governance of the country and this therefore makes it imperative for them to support the campaign on public health and promote the adherence to personal protection guidelines advised by government and the World Health Organization.

The NPP Chairman cum businessman made these remarks exclusively to thecustodianghonline.com when he joined Muslim clerics in Tamale today Friday, 3 April, 2020, for a Breakfast Quran Recitation and Prayer at the Tamale Central Mosque.

“I want to seize this opportunity to thank the Imams for praying day and night for the country.
“Coronavirus doesn’t know any political party and it is only when we pray to God that, we will be saved from this deadly disease.

“Therefore, I call on the NDC, CPP, PNC, PPP, all parties to pray for the country” he appealed.
The NPP northern regional Chairman’s call comes the same day when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo met the leadership of the political parties in Ghana at the jubilee house to join forces with government in fighting the new coronavirus.

The President told the political party leaders that, the virus is a threat to our communities, society and nation and therefore, he said “We should be able, collectively, to find an input as to the measures that, on a societal basis, can be taken to arrest the spread, and, ultimately, lead to the defeat of this pandemic in Ghana.”
